Basic Life Support Update (Clinical Staff)


        Who Can Apply?

It is a widely recognised that competence in Basic Life Support procedures deteriorates rapidly with time.


This course is suitable for staff who have a clinical background and have previously undertaken a Basic Life Support course.


        Course Aims/Brief Outline

            To update candidates on current CPR guidelines and skills including:

  • Recognising cardio-respiratory arrest

  • Understanding the chain of survival

  • How to get appropriate help

  • ABC principles for basic life support

  • Performing CPR

  • Recovery position

  • Dealing with choking

  • Recognising the risks of contamination

  • Use of oxygen, artificial airways and ventilation bags

  • Use of AED
