Manual Defibrillation

 

Who Can Apply?

Anyone with a professional healthcare qualification working in a clinical area or external agency. Experienced registered nurses and medical staff working in critical or high risk areas of clinical practice.

 

Candidates must have completed the Basic Life Support course before attending.

Course Aims/Brief Outline

  • Recognising cardio-respiratory arrest

  • Knowledge of ALS algorithm

  • Recognition of ventricular fibrillation and ventricular tachycardia

  • Familiarity with defibrillators, paddles and hands free systems

  • Safely operate a defibrillator

  • Identify hazards associated with defibrillation
